I've had a copy of Greenwood on my shelf since 2020. This is just the inspiration I needed to finally pick it up!! Thank you for the delightful inspo, per usual.

Yes! It was a real sleeper hit for me. Hope you like it!! ✨

Greenwood has always caught my eye. That locale is a fav of mine to read.

Elyse Chambers's avatar

Same on the locale - let me know if you give it a try!

Maison Flaneur has triggered a full maternal decorating flashback—those sconces! 😂 Also officially Biologica-curious (the sexiest vitamins I’ve ever seen???) and Greenwood is now next on my list. Consider me blissfully influenced across all categories.xo

I'm going to have to create the domestic Maison Flaneur as the next iteration of my career because those sconces!! And, yes, the sexiest vitamins on the planet — I get a thrill just looking at the tin. Will report back on efficacy in a few months.

Oh, this one sounds good! Also, very excellent Weeds reference...that made me smile!

Thinking Weeds deserves a rewatch!

Love how the tree ring structure turned this into something more than just multigenerational storytelling. Jumping forward after going back creates this accumulation effect that mirrors the actual layering Christie's describing with 'each triumph and disaster written forever in its structure'. I've been hunting for colorful home goods too and the whole thinggoes deeper than just trends, its like we collectively forgot that homes can be expressive instead of Instagram-neutral.

Agreed, such an interesting way to structure a book. I loved it. And here's to creating livable spaces filled with personality!

A most apt and moving description of this gorgeously written saga! So glad you seem to appreciate it just as much as I do!

Thank you for the glowing recommendation!! You always have the best taste.

This can’t possibly be new for you, but for homewares and decor have you tried Schoolhouse Electric? Slightly vintage inspired and full of color and pattern. Good luck!

Elyse Chambers's avatar

I do love Schoolhouse Electric!! Their stuff sometimes skews a little mid-century modern for my tastes, but I love all of the color. Thank you!

I feel this deeply as I was just hunting for a well-designed and playful reading wall lamp for my oldest - and sigh, ended up going with Crate & Kids. Similarly struggling with living room curtains and wall sconces! I'll have to start hunting for some vintage pieces like others suggested.

Added Greenwood to my never-not-growing TBR - I recently finished What Kind of Paradise (loved) and loved the exploration of themes on modernity vs. the longing for an analog existence.

Honestly, Crate & Kids has some great stuff! A friend messaged this morning to say that Heidi Caillier (she of the gorgeous Kendall Jenner home) has a collab out now with Lulu & Georgia. Eyeing some Roman shades. It's out there, we just don't have to fun one-stop sites like they do in the UK! Will have to check out What Kind of Paradise 💚

Per your suggestion, my Hubs got Greenwood as one of his Christmas books this year! It's his next read. I think we are coming back to color. I'm a pops of color person and have 2 read couches in my homes! Love when you do your interiors.

Elyse Chambers's avatar

You'll have to tell me what he thinks! And two reading couches must be the dream 💚

Julie Davis's avatar

I meant RED couches. All my couches are reading couches 😂

Hahaha! Dying.

So happy you’re loving Biologica!! Agree 100% on mass market US home goods feeling uninspiring — my best advice is to shop vintage as the cloud-like color obsession in the US is relatively new. There are great finds to be discovered, just need some patience!

Elyse Chambers's avatar

Looking forward to it every morning!! And I agree on vintage — need to be better about combing through the good sites. xx

I always have the "Weeds" song in my head when seeing the same modern farmhouse over and over again as every new build. I hate it so much! A cute Brooklyn based design shop I've loved from afar is Oeuf, their stuff is quirky, playful and well made- like this eggy pillow I strangely love so much https://oeufnyc.com/products/eggy. I also think the Pierce & Ward collection for West Elm feels British inspired with more interesting patterns and colors.

Elyse Chambers's avatar

I am a HUGE fan of Oeuf! Their pillows were some of the first things I bought for the store, knowing I was going to build a window bench. And good call, need to revisit the Pierce & Ward collection for WE. xx

Tell me: what is Varley?! I’ve seen it so often but never sure what it means? Like sweat pants? I like a coloured interior too!

Elyse Chambers's avatar

It's a brand of athletic/athleisure wear. They make those gorgeous looking sweats.

Oh, silly me! I got confused with Varsity - I don’t know what that means! I have some Varley things!
